New Skoda Octavia Scout for 142 plate

Skoda will launch its new Octavia Scout which will be celebrating its world premier at the Geneva Motor Show, writes Trish Whelan.

The Octavia Scout will go on sale in Skoda dealerships nationwide here in August with prices starting from under €30,000 for the 2.0TDI 150bhp 4x4.

The new version has a new and improved off-road look and includes the all-wheel drive technology, with traction, climbing and start-up performance all significantly improved.

"With our changeable weather conditions, more drivers are interested in opting for our 4x4 models and this new Scout is the most advanced we have seen yet from SKODA," says Raymond Leddy, Head of Marketing and Product for SKODA Ireland.

The new version is based on the Octavia Combi. Along with other style improvements, ground clearance has increased by 33 millimetres compared to the standard Octavia. Traction has increased by 25 percent to up to two tonnes. The new Czech car masters steeper, more challenging terrain thanks to the larger approach/departure angles.

SKODA Ireland now boasts one of the largest 4x4 model offerings in Ireland with the Yeti 4x4, Octavia 4x4, Superb 4x4, and now this new Scout model which completes the line-up.

2013 Skoda Rapid

Compact cars with sedan for a long time nobody was interested. But now a growing segment and Skoda wants from a new sedan called the 2013 Skoda Rapid. Here is the first information.

Skoda sees the growing market for classic sedans in the compact segment. With the notchback, the Rapid is the future in good company, that is in competition with corporate siblings. He is related to the VW Jetta and the next Seat Toledo, which will not run in Spain, but in the Skoda factory in Mlada Boleslav from the tape. Five petrol engines and two diesel units are available as compact sedan drives to choose from. To the drives, the manufacturer could not disclose any details. Logically, it will be the usual suspects from the Volkswagen-shelf. The range is therefore likely to start with a 1.2-liter petrol engine, which provides in the Gulf, for example, 85 hp. Would rank at the top end of the 2.0 TDI with 140 hp. The show premiere of the new Skoda Rapid is at the Paris Motor Show 2012 (27 September to 14 October). The launch will take place in Europe from autumn 2012, several months before the technique Twin Seat Toledo, which comes only in spring 2013. The price is not yet known.

2013 Skoda Yeti as a pick-up? This seems at first sight of something crazy. As seen from the compact SUV makes a trendy vehicle including an open cargo area, the Czech company BT shows the study Etape Concept at the Auto Mobil International (AMI) in Leipzig (until 10th June 2012).

Deep down the aprons, side skirts, flared wheel arches and oversized alloy wheels make the car appear very athletic. But an eye-catcher is the Etape by its open, black paneled truck. At this place there are two road bikes - at least with front wheels removed. This is the long-standing commitment to be honored by Skoda in cycling. The Czech brand has for many years, the escort vehicles at big races like the Tour de France.
